Introducing TSJ’s Winter ’13 line-up

aflnswansIt has been a very interesting summer in the world of sport.

Our Cricketers have shown that we should be worried about facing the Poms later this year, an average performance against the South Africans and more recently with the Shane Watson fiasco in India, all signs are saying it’ll be a very embarrassing tour of England. Warnie’s feud with Marlon Samuels overshadowed an exciting end to season 2 of the Big Bash League which the Brisbane Heat took the chocolates.

The A-League has finally gained some much-needed traction, especially newbies the Western Sydney Wanderers. In just 11 months they’ve gone from being an idea in the back of the FFA’s mind to becoming hot favourites for the A-League championship. lakersnbasignificant signing of Italian superstar, Alessandro del Piero and former England International Emile Heskey has helped the league set record attendances and sign a multi-million dollar broadcast deal.

Victoria Azarenka along with her rockstar ‘love interest’ (as the folks at Channel 7 loved to shove down out throat) came to Melbourne for Australian Open, Vika shrieked her way to a back-to-back win whilst the Djoker continued his domination Down Under. Thankfully it seems Bernard Tomic has reached maturity and might just find himself back on the Davis Cup team if he can keep it up.

chelseavfulluhmSwimming Australia has suffered the full extent of a horrible London 2012 campaign with the Bluestone Report revealing just a snapshot of the circus inside the Aussies’ Manchester training camp and the toxic culture inside the Olympic Village.

However, the story that most people will remember from the past four month will easily be the Australian Crime Commissions report into the use of Performance Enhancing drugs in Australian Sport. The NRL are beginning to pay for their sins, coaches, officials and doctors the first to be given the boot as stories of rampant drug use in the league begin to reach the surface.

At The SportingJournal, it has been a long off-season. With a lot of training, preparation and some new recruits we’re ready for the 2013 winter season. The whole team at TSJ have been working hard over the past couple of months to introduce some new features and announce some very exciting new additions.

Firstly, we’re very excited to be welcoming the team from The Substitute to join us at The SportingJournal. The Sub guys have done an excellent job at producing some great articles and we are looking forward to welcoming them across to join our new winter line-up.

You’ll be able to check out content from TSJ along with other news stories from around the globe on Newsloop, a new mobile & tablet application. TSJ are looking forward to working with Newsloop, which will be officially launched in Australia in a couple of weeks time.
