The stage is set for Australia’s Mark Webber who will start on the front row of the Australian Grand Prix this afternoon.

Webber qualified second fastest for the season opener, just edged out by younger Red Bull teammate and defending world champion, Sebastian Vettel.

At 36, Webber is in the twilight of his career and is running out of chances to win his home Grand Prix.

The Australian is a notoriously slow starter, so the initial stages of the chaotic Albert Park race will be critical.

If he starts cleanly, Webber is a very real chance to win the race he has so desperately wanted his entire career.

Lewis Hamilton and Felipe Massa were also quick in qualifying and will start from position three and four respectively.

Last years winner, Jenson Button, was surprisingly slow and will start from tenth position.
