Country Racing Victoria’s star mare Exceptionally is the only country based trained horse left in Australia. Exceptionally is trained in Stawell, Western Victoria about 300kms out of Melbourne’s CBD. Her trainers are Terry & Karina O’Sullivan the father/ daughter team have had a runner in the Cup before back in 2007 with Dolphin Jo who ran 5th. Exceptionally was balloted out of the Cup in 2010 just missing out after running 2nd to eventual 2010 Melbourne Cup winner Americain. Exceptionally is ridden by Horsham based jockey Dean Yendall. Hopefully for the Battlers she gets a run and shows the world that rich expensive properties don’t always provide Melbourne Cup winners.
